MAGNET’s Ashley Love just sent out a press release about the LGBtotheT launch:

“LGBtotheT” Launches!

http://www.logoonline.com/shows/dyn/lgb_to_the_t/videos.jhtml

“Transamerican Love Story” is the elimination dating show on Logo featuring a trans woman bachelorette, and will premiere next Monday, February 11th @ 10pm. The show stars trans activist/actress Calpernia Addams, and follows her in her quest for love as she chooses between eight suitors to hopefully find that special one. Helping her out will be the host of the show, Alec Mapa, and her best friend Andrea James, trans activist and filmmaker.

Logo consulted with MAGNET (Media Advocates Giving National Equality to Trans) to help create online content to use as promotion for the show. This television show will be high visibility for the trans community, which is why Logo decided to incorporate education of the trans community on their website, http://www.logoonline.com.

“LGBtotheT AtoZ” is a trans community edu-tainment digiseries devised by MAGNET in collaboration with Logo. MAGNET worked closely with Logo to generate a complete alphabet for the trans community, covering significant people, historical events, current issues and terms for the movement. Each letter is individual two-minute webisodes. In the segments MAGNET’s Ashley Love delivers the letter and its corresponding trans alphabet definition. Transsexual icon and star of the Logo series, “Transamerican Love Story”, Calpernia Addams, activist and co-star Andrea James and hilarious host Alec Mapa follow Ashley’s educational tone with lighthearted commentary on each topic. Two other “LGBtotheT” digiseries are currently in the works, so please stay tuned! “LGBtotheT AtoZ” is available at http://www.logoonline.com

Ashley expresses, “ MAGNET is really excited that Logo continues to use entertainment as a successful means to educate society about the trans community, especially since our community is becoming more visible in the media. I hope everyone will tune in to watch “Transamerican Love Story”, as well as view “LGBtotheT” online”.

Trantasia premieres on Showtime Feb 14

Maria Roman and director Jeremy Stanford were at our Transamerican Love Story premiere last night and reminded me that Trantasia will air February 14 on Showtime. It’s a documentary about The World’s Most Beautiful Transsexual Pageant held in Las Vegas.

Trantasia’s pageant host Jahna Steele, one of the most historically significant entertainers in trans history, died last month. She was incredibly talented and a real class act in all of her media appearances. Christine Beatty made a nice video tribute to Jahna. I did a lot of work on her Wikipedia article, to make sure her significance was understood. I hope to write up an appreciation at some point once press regarding our show dies down a bit.

I also need to go on record noting that Maria Roman is absolutely flawless. You may recall that we were on the same episode of Cristina a couple of years ago. Just strikingly lovely. I am in awe of her every time I see her.

LGBtotheT launches at logoonline.com

As part of their trans programming, the folks at Logo asked us to participate in a trans-themed piece called “LGB to the T.” The lovely and talented Ashley Love plays the teacher who presents each fact, and Alec, Calpernia and I play the smartass kids in the back of class.

It just went live today, so check it out at logoonline.com:

Ashley is all superglam here (as usual), so you might not recognize her as the buttoned-up teacher who gives each fact in LGBtotheT:

She was also in Trans Sister Tales with me last month for those who read regularly.

WoW Report coverage of Transamerican Love Story premiere

World of Wonder has some great shots from last night, taken by Tharin Smothers. I was really happy to pose for a quick snap with Brian Graden, network exec extraordinaire. I already wanted to have his children before Logo started, because he is a key player in the development of South Park. I remember watching a viral videocassette of “The Spirit of Christmas” (which Brian commissioned) in about 1994 at a Denver animation studio, long before the show was even around. Tears were streaming down my face as I watched it, and I couldn’t breathe from laughing so hard. And it takes a lot to make me laugh.

Brian is one of the most influential people in LGBT media and has made a real commitment to trans-themed programming on Logo. One of many great people involved in making this show happen on the corporate side.
