My new Apple TV

I finally broke down and got an Apple TV as part of my forays into HD platforms. I got interested after we shot Casting Pearls in HD and seeing the picture quality when screened on good equipment at the Directors Guild of America. I doubt I will ever bother with film again. Our distributor is not selling it in HD, though they traffic an HD print if the venue can project it.

Delivering HD movies on demand seems to be a problem with my cable company at the moment. I’ll let you know what I think of it as I go. Now that the stupid format war is over, I may also get a Blu-Ray just for kicks.

New transsexual humor and satire

Someone has finally put together an important scientific diagram that brings all of J. Michael Bailey’s scientific truth on sex and sexuality into perfect scientific symmetry.

New Transamerican Love Story videos and photos

For the record, Rich would have been one of my two finalists on Transamerican Love Story. But the show wasn’t about me, so knowing Calpernia, I knew Rich was going to get eliminated. She responds when guys have a powerful physical response to her, and Rich was too laid back and esoteric for her. Everybody always tells me I should be doing yoga, and hearing Rich talk about it really got me thinking I need to make that happen.

That said, you can watch our wrap-up here:

They also added my captions to the behind-the-scenes pics I took:

I also just added a few photos from our day on the yacht, which was really a lot of fun:

Ivy Plus Society; Transamerican Love Story episode 3

Even though awards season has officially ended, the parade of evening events continues. Callie and I headed out to Falcon for an Ivy Plus Society event at Falcon. Last time I was there was for the Big Gay Sketch Show premiere. We got good drinks because Callie knew one bartender from Bar Sinister, and we had a couple of nice chats. More events pics as they come in.

It got to be a bit of a crush after a while, so we headed out and watched the Transamerican Love Story episode 3 over at my place. Calpernia had seen a rough cut the other day, but I hadn’t seen it yet. The bikini part of it was so last-minute that wardrobe didn’t have time to get anything, and I didn’t even have time to go get one myself. At wardrobe we had tried on all kinds of little sailor suits, so I thought that was going to be the only thing I wore. Had I known sooner, I’d have found something cuter than my ancient green and black two-piece. At least they shot me from some OK angles. I got a couple of good lines off, too. It’s a lot harder to do that than you’d think, since they only use a fraction of what they shoot. You’re just throwing off comments and one-liners all day while drinking martinis and trying to suck in your stomach. You try it sometime!

New Cybersocket online arts article by Robbie D

Cybersocket, the leader in gay and lesbian online information, has just published an article by my friend Robbie Daniels, Jr., one of the most interesting and edgy artists I know.

His article “Freak Show” discusses the significance of MySpace and other user-generated content sites within the LGBT arts scene. Included are comments from Calpernia and myself, as well as dozens of people on the bleeding edge of culture who are worth a look and listen.

Trevor Project Oscar Viewing Party

Tonight Alec Mapa invited me to be a VIP guest at the Trevor Project’s Oscar Night Viewing Party fundraiser in West Hollywood. That part of town was absolutely insane last night, with whole streets blocked off and all sorts of other drama. More limos and town cars than you can imagine. After sweet-talking my way into a barricaded street to park, I headed in and had a lovely time. Charles Robbins, the Executive Director of Trevor Project, used to work at the Task Force when we did the V-Day fundraiser benefiting them and LACAAW. He also works with TYFA on our anti-suicide initiatives.

Photos to come soon!

“Laundromat” screening party

Last night was the long-awaited screening party for ”Laundromat,” the short film by Edward Gunawan and David Maurice Gil. We had a great crowd on hand, including most of the cast and key crew. I played Maya, and Calpernia played my girlfriend Angie, which will do nothing to quell the erroneous rumors that we are a couple.

Smoking Cocktail LGBT Mixer

On Wednesday I headed out to the inaugural Smoking Cocktail LGBT Mixer at the Standard. Loyal readers may recall I was there for an Ivy Plus Society event recently. Lots of great people involved in LGBT media were on hand, and they were doing a fantastic job of promoting Transamerican Love Story with posters and postcards.

I even got to spend a little quality time with Chad Darnell, a great writer whom I had met just days earlier at a Transamerican Love Story screening party for episode 2.
