“Laundromat” premieres @ FilmOut San Diego LGBT Fest

Director Edward Gunawan just announced that the short film “Laundromat” will premiere at the 10th FilmOut San Diego LGBT Film Festival. Calpernia and I have supporting roles in the film, which follows a young gay couple. After a chance encounter with an older man, they realize that the little things mean nothing and everything when it comes to love.

Stay tuned for screening times and venues as the festival gets closer.

Edward and David Maurice Gil also won an award at the 9th PlanetOut Short Movie Awards, announced at Sundance, for the short film “Just.”

Pic of the Day: Garden Hummingbird

Getting closer to a good picture of the hummingbird. He is so freakin’ cute I can’t stand it. They stick their tongues out when they are resting. Next challenge is a midair action shot of my elusive friend.

My friend Ashley Love sent a nice slide show with a photo from the opening night of Outfest 2007. From left to right: Andrea, Calpernia, Momma, Ashley.

Birthday excitement

Calpernia and I joined Alec Mapa over at MTV Networks today to film some commentary for a cool educational piece they’re creating for the internet, read by my friend Ashley Love. It will be online soon, and linked from the official Transamerican Love Story page.

We also got to see a cut of episode one of TLS, and it’s looking pretty impressive! The team working on it is really first-rate, and it’s already getting some buzz out here.

I’m not much of a birthday chick, so I didn’t tell anyone it was my birthday, but it’s always a blessing to spend that day doing things you love with people you love. Which is exactly what I did!

World of Wonder created this new banner for Transamerican Love Story. Stay tuned for more details very soon, including the website!

Ivy Plus Society holiday event

I took Calpernia to the Ivy Plus Society 2007 holiday party at the William Turner Gallery at Bergamot Station. Met lots of great people as always.

Just found they snapped a piccie of us there. Good times. Not sure what I was thinking with the hair. I encourage you to join, and I’ll probably see you at the next one at The Standard on the Sunset Strip January 31!

No Fats, Femmes or Asians

One of the highlights of 2007 for me was getting to know Alec Mapa, one of the nicest, funniest and sickest people I have ever met. And all those are compliments. I had the privilege of seeing the opening night of his new show, No Fats, Femmes or Asians. He told a lot of hilarious stories about his adventures last year (he hosted a ton of gay cruises), and did an amazing tribute to his recently deceased dog that was simultaneously heartwrenching and cute (you had to see it to believe it). As an added bonus, his partner Jamie was in the show (which I didn’t know beforehand), and our friends Keo Woolford and Edward Gunawan made appearances, too!

I am honored to know such a lovely and talented couple as Alec and Jamie.
