Avatars as idealized self-perceptions

Andrea James

I always like to see how people make avatars of themselves within the confines of specific aesthetic systems. Above are examples of me as a Simpsons character and me as a Meez. I believe it says a lot about people’s idealized self-perceptions.

I like the second one better because there’s an option for no shoes. Here’s a fun fact: I only wear shoes when required by law, and sometimes not even then. I always drive my car barefoot, and I usually wear surfing footies if I have to have footwear. I have mentioned my obsession with surfing before. One of these days I’ll explain why I always wear tinted eyewear.
