Avatars as idealized self-perceptions

I always like to see how people make avatars of themselves within the confines of specific aesthetic systems. Above are examples of me as a Simpsons character and me as a Meez. I believe it says a lot about people’s idealized self-perceptions.

I like the second one better because there’s an option for no shoes. Here’s a fun fact: I only wear shoes when required by law, and sometimes not even then. I always drive my car barefoot, and I usually wear surfing footies if I have to have footwear. I have mentioned my obsession with surfing before. One of these days I’ll explain why I always wear tinted eyewear.

Hey yeah, you have never explained why you like tinted eyewear so much! Oh, and I think the second avatar looks like a http://www.bratz.com” rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview (’/outbound/www.bratz.com’);”>Bratz doll!

Even though Bratz dolls have chic names like “Jade” and “Yasmin”, if there was ever a Bratz doll that looked like you, I think it will probably still be named Andrea.

But the name of the Andrea Bratz doll would be pronounced the pretentious way, not the flat Midwestern way you use! wink
